The site:
Osterholz-Scharmbeck Grammar School is a secondary school on the outskirts of Bremen with currently around 740 students between the ages of ten and nineteen. Its large 3-court sports hall with retractable stands and sprung floor is ideal for the pupils' sporting activities, and is also used by local sports clubs outside of school hours.
The project:
After years of intensive use, the sports hall's sanitation areas were in need of comprehensive refurbishment. To minimise disruption to school life, Frank Hillmer at the district's Office of Property Management scheduled the extensive work for during the summer holidays. With the façade, windows, roof, hall floor and all of the technology having already been replaced or refurbished to improve energy efficiency, the shower room refurbishment in 2023 was the last step in the renovation process for the time being.
The challenge:

The solution:
For a refreshing, hygienically impeccable and enjoyable shower experience after school sports, the Office of Property Management opted for CONPRIMUS shower panels in RAL white. The CONTI+ Service APP ensures that all the necessary hygiene measures are met and enables control of individual faucets for effective programming, logging and documentation. Proven CONTI+ iQ faucets with their sophisticated technology and robust monobloc without base are used at the washbasins. The sanitary rinse time, water run-on time, sensor sensitivity and choice of 12, 24 or 48-hour sanitary rinses can be set using the function key on the faucet. Frank Hillmer can also configure these settings via the Service APP. Particularly practical: the CONTI+ iQ is installed just like a conventional single-lever mixer.

Frank Hillmer, who coordinated both the tender and the work, points out other important factors: "Safety is a top priority, especially in schools. This includes clean drinking water in the shower rooms and washrooms of sports halls. That's why the CONPRIMUS shower panels got my vote: the thermostat is positioned at the height of the shower head, which minimises the standing water column that often occurs with other shower systems. I can also flush the cold and hot water lines of the panels separately, so there is almost no possibility of microbiological contamination of the shower water. What's more, I can use the CONTI+ Service APP to monitor the individual panels and to schedule and automatically trigger sanitary rinses. This is particularly important during and after periods when the school is closed for holidays."
Following the tender process, the MATT trade business based in Hambergen was awarded the contract for the refurbishment of the shower rooms. Master installer Rolf Pauli supervised the project. The extensive refurbishment work, which also took in the ventilation system and electrics, began once school finished for the summer. "We tore out everything in the boys' and girls' shower rooms during the holidays and then rebuilt them from scratch. Now the kids have seven showers at their disposal again in each room after school sports. I often install CONTI+ products. After the Osterholz-Scharmbeck sports hall, for example, we also equipped a gym in Hambergen with CONTI+ fittings. In addition to the easy installation and problem-free maintenance, I am particularly impressed by the spare parts shop: I can search for my spare parts online and order them directly. This is a great service that saves us a lot of time in our daily work."

The background story:
With the refurbishment of the school sports hall in Osterholz-Scharmbeck, all of the sports halls that fall under the remit of the district's Office of Property Management have now been upgraded. Many districts are still a long way off this, and Frank Hillmer and his colleagues can be justifiably proud of their achievement.
