Drinking water is our most important foodstuff and must be available in perfect quality at all times. To ensure this, regular water exchange at all faucets is essential. Stagnant water can lead to a proliferation of bacteria, such as legionella, particularly in areas that are not used frequently or during longer periods of downtime.

According to the German Drinking Water Regulations (TrinkwV) § 13 and VDI/DVGW 6023, operators of drinking water installations must ensure that the water is completely changed after 72 hours at the latest. Otherwise, microorganisms that are hazardous to health can multiply. This applies in particular to public buildings such as hospitals, schools, hotels or office buildings, where regular use of the water taps is not always guaranteed.
According to worksheet DVGW W 551 and DIN 1988-200, measures are also required to prevent stagnation and to maintain water temperatures (cold water < 25 °C, hot water ≥ 55 °C) in order to prevent the proliferation of legionella and other germs.
