Welcome to northern Germany: a hygienically safe holiday experience is assured at the Nordsee-Camp Norddeich campsite thanks to CONTI+
Wettenberg, 09.04.2024.
Situated directly behind the sea dyke along the East Frisian North Sea coast, the Nordsee-Camp campsite serves as a gateway to the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a place from which to enjoy the healthy, bracing North Sea climate and visit the islands of Norderney and Juist located offshore. The newly built "Deck" waterfront in nearby Norddeich with its maritime national park promenade offers plenty of space for rest and recuperation. For 40 years, the Nordsee-Camp staff have been delighting visitors young and old with their typical East Frisian blend of warmth and conviviality as well as, naturally, the friendly "Moin!" greeting used in this region at any time of day. The campsite opened in 1983 with some 250 pitches. The 25 hectare site now boasts around 700 pitches and can host up to 2,500 guests at a time. In addition to space for caravans, mobile homes and tents, since 2016 the campsite has also been offering well-appointed chalets for rent.
Washroom block renovation
The plan was to renovate the large washroom block at the centre of the campsite, which included retiling the shower rooms and installing new partitions. What's more, after 30 years of continuous use, the CONTI+ shower and washbasin faucets were to be replaced. Managing director Lars Tjaden knew immediately he wanted to stick with CONTI+ faucets. "We have had only good experiences with CONTI+ to date. Once installed, the faucets deliver exceptional reliability year after year. We always keep small wear parts, such as seals, to hand so that we can replace these ourselves whenever the need arises," said caretaker André Wiechers. Lars Tjaden and his team opted for the electronic CONTI+ CONGENIAL concealed showers and infrared-controlled MAXX washbasin faucets – both products that have been in the faucet manufacturer's range for a long time and proven their technical reliability over many years. As is frequently the case at campsites, usage intervals vary depending on the time of year and holidays: Nordsee-Camp is open from Easter to October and its peak season coincides with school breaks. Nordsee-Camp opted for the CONTI+ CNX water management system to ensure hygienically impeccable drinking water systems in its washrooms at all times and so that automatic sanitary rinses could be triggered when the campsite is closed as well. "The CONTI+ fitters helped us to commission and configure the system. They came specially to Norddeich to check that everything was working perfectly and show us all we needed to know to operate this really user friendly system," said the 42-year-old managing director, who himself likes to hit the road with his family in a mobile home in his free time. All colleagues now have an overview of all water tapping points at all times from the office via tablet or PC and can control them centrally. Sanitary rinses and thermal disinfection can be conveniently triggered in line with the German DVGW W551 standard. Hygiene is thus assured in the accessible washrooms and shower rooms (even when the campsite is closed) and is fully documented.
Practical and inexpensive special solutions
The many Nordsee-Camp regulars appreciate the clean washrooms. In addition to individual cubicles with showers and washbasins, the facilities include a children's bath, baby changing rooms and multiple washing machines and dryers. Managing director Lars Tjaden is delighted with the partnership with CONTI+: "I think it's wonderful that the company is able to offer us practical, bespoke solutions, even given our unusual circumstances. We had already installed fixed shelves for shampoo and body wash directly under the shower heads in the shower cubicles, which meant the angle of the water flow was less than ideal. CONTI+ responded immediately and replaced the shower tray so that we could adjust the water flow accordingly. We were presented with this inexpensive solution in next to no time."
The campsite in Norddeich still mainly attracts holidaymakers from the Ruhr region. "But we are also noticing ever increasing numbers of visitors from the Netherlands and Switzerland and this year also from Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and Bavaria. Our guests simply love what we have to offer here: the fresh North Sea air that makes even the hot summer months bearable," explained Lars Tjaden with a smile. Apart from the stunning location on the North Sea coast, other factors that have led to the site receiving multiple awards and that account for its special popularity among families in particular include the bike rental facility at the campsite itself, the on-site supermarket, the Cotto e Crudo Italian restaurant and, last but not least, the friendly 15-person team.
